What is the adoption process?
What is the adoption process?
We love getting to know our future kitten families! To make sure each kitten has the best possible life, we thoughtfully screen all potential homes. Before placement, we ask for a quick phone or video call so we can learn more about you and your home environment. We’ll chat about things like whether you have children or other pets, who the kitten will be living with, and your plans for their future. This helps us create the perfect match for both you and the kitten.
Feel free to send us a text anytime to chat more about adoption or ask any questions at 804-334-5018 — we’re happy to talk!
What do kittens come with? Are they vaccinated, and what is the one-year health guarantee?
What do kittens come with? Are they vaccinated, and what is the one-year health guarantee?
All of our kittens receive age-appropriate veterinary care, including their core vaccinations and boosters before going home. This includes the FVRCP vaccine series (feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia) given on schedule, along with routine deworming and wellness checks.
Our breeding cats (queens and studs) are fully health tested, including screening for common Bengal-related conditions such as PKDef, PRA-b, and other genetic concerns, as well as FeLV/FIV testing as standard practice. We take health and longevity very seriously.
Kittens go home with TICA registration paperwork. In the rare case a litter is not papered, this will be clearly disclosed before purchase, so you will always know exactly what to expect. TICA paperwork is provided within 90 days of purchase, allowing time for final payment processing.
Each kitten also goes home with a personalized birth chart and baby book, provided within 90 days.
Our one-year health guarantee covers genetic conditions and reflects our confidence in the health testing, veterinary care, and intentional breeding behind every Akasha Bengals kitten.
Is there an extra fee for spay or neuter, and do kittens go home fixed?
Is there an extra fee for spay or neuter, and do kittens go home fixed?
Yes. All kittens that are not purchased with breeding rights are spayed or neutered before going home. This allows them to heal properly in our care so they are fully ready for their new home.
There is a $300 spay/neuter fee added to the purchase price. This ensures the procedure is performed by a high-quality veterinarian and allows us to confidently include our one-year health guarantee.
What sets Akasha Bengals apart from other breeders and catteries?
What sets Akasha Bengals apart from other breeders and catteries?
At Akasha Bengals, our focus is on raising healthy, well socialized kittens in a home centered environment. Unlike many catteries that rely on cages due to large scale operations, our kittens are never caged. We intentionally keep a small program and raise our kittens in our home with constant love, attention, and daily human interaction. This allows them to develop strong social skills and form deep, trusting bonds with their people.
Many catteries wean kittens onto dry food for convenience. We do not. Our kittens are raised on a carefully prepared homemade diet with the proper nutrients and supplements needed for healthy growth and digestion. We believe this early nutrition plays a major role in lifelong health and allows us to confidently stand behind our health guarantee.
From an early age, our kittens are gently introduced to harness training, water exposure, and positive handling. They are not simply raised to be pets, but to be confident, emotionally balanced companions. Many naturally grow into excellent emotional support animals because of the environment and care they receive from the start.
Why is raising kittens in cages bad, and is this common?
Why is raising kittens in cages bad, and is this common?
Raising kittens in cages during critical developmental stages can have serious negative effects on their emotional, mental, and behavioral health. Confinement limits natural exploration, human interaction, and environmental stimulation, which are essential for proper social development. Kittens raised this way often experience chronic stress that can lead to anxiety, fear based behaviors, poor bonding, aggression, or destructive habits later in life.
Unfortunately, this practice is VERY common in larger scale catteries where space limitations and high numbers make in-home raising difficult. While it may be done for convenience, it often results in kittens who struggle to adapt to home life.
At Akasha Bengals, we intentionally keep our program small and raise our kittens in a home environment with freedom of movement, enrichment, and daily human interaction. This allows them to grow into confident, emotionally balanced, and well adjusted companions.
Do you offer delivery or out of state shipping?
Do you offer delivery or out of state shipping?
Yes! We offer ground transport for our kittens using our own Akasha Bengals transport service once the screening process is complete. Delivery fees vary based on distance. For example, delivery within 500 miles is $450.
For longer distances, we may offer flight nanny travel, depending on location, or you’re welcome to fly in and take your kitten home with you in the cabin. For the safety and well-being of our kittens, we do not allow third-party transport services. All kittens are personally driven and handed off by us directly to their new owner.
I live out of state and cannot meet the kitten in person. What should I do?
I live out of state and cannot meet the kitten in person. What should I do?
No worries!
We spend every day with our kittens and know their personalities extremely well as they grow. Through our phone or video call, we take the time to truly understand your lifestyle, home environment, and what you are looking for in a companion.
If you are unable to visit in person, you can feel completely confident trusting our recommendation. We carefully and thoughtfully match each kitten to the right home, and we are always honest about personality and fit. If the timing or match is not quite right, we will happily guide you toward a future litter instead. Our goal is to make this process easy, stress free, and joyful, so you can feel confident every step of the way.
Do you offer breeding rights?
Do you offer breeding rights?
Yes, we offer breeding rights to approved catteries and breeding programs. Because our priority is the lifelong well-being of our cats, requirements for breeding rights are more selective than pet placements. A video call is mandatory for all breeding inquiries, along with proof of residence and valid identification. This helps ensure our kittens are placed in responsible, ethical programs that align with our standards of care. Depending on the pattern and gender of the kitten, breeding rights range between 1000-1500 extra on top of the price of the kitten.
