Breeding Rights at Akasha Bengals
At Akasha Bengals, breeding rights are offered thoughtfully and intentionally. We believe breeding Bengals is a serious responsibility that directly impacts the health, temperament, and future of the breed. For us, breeding is not about volume or convenience, but about ethics, preservation, and lifelong care.
Because of this, breeding rights are only offered to approved programs that align with our values and standards.
Our Philosophy on Breeding
We believe Bengal cats deserve to be raised in enriched, home centered settings with proper nutrition, socialization, and emotional care. Every cat placed with breeding rights should have an excellent quality of life throughout their life, not just during kittenhood. We do not support cage based breeding, overcrowding, or practices that prioritize profit over the well being of the cats.
Our goal is to contribute positively to the Bengal breed by working only with responsible breeders who share this same mindset.
Breeding Rights Fee
Breeding rights include an additional fee of $1,000 to $1,500, depending on the kitten and placement. This fee reflects the extensive health testing, intentional pairing, early socialization, and time invested into each kitten. It also helps ensure that breeding rights are reserved for serious, committed programs that are prepared to uphold high standards of care.
Requirements for Breeding Rights
Homes and programs requesting breeding rights are held to a higher standard than pet placements. Requirements include:
-
A mandatory video call so we can get to know you and your program
-
Proof of residence and valid identification
-
A small scale or home based breeding program
-
Commitment to proper nutrition, veterinary care, and socialization
-
Agreement to ethical breeding practices and responsible placement
-
A more detailed and binding breeding contract
All potential breeders working with us must agree to a stricter contract outlining care standards, breeding ethics, and placement expectations.
For breeders located in Utah, we require an in person home visit prior to approval. This is done to ensure the environment meets our standards and that our cats will be raised in a safe, appropriate setting.
Why We Are Selective
We are selective with breeding rights because once a cat enters a breeding program, their environment, care, and handling matter even more. Poor breeding practices can lead to long term health issues, behavioral problems, and unnecessary stress for the cats involved. We choose to be cautious and intentional to protect both our kittens and the future of the breed.
If we feel a placement is not the right fit, we will always be honest, even if that means recommending a pet placement or waiting for a future opportunity.
Our Commitment
Breeding rights through Akasha Bengals are built on trust, transparency, and shared values. We take pride in doing things the right way, even when it requires more time and care. Our goal is to support ethical programs and place our cats only where they will truly thrive.
